Part One of The White Silk Chronicles is officially complete. Over the next five weeks, you will see an “interlude” set between Part One and Part Two that features a different narrator. After those five weeks, the project will officially be on hiatus.

Why is White Silk going on hiatus?

I’ve focused on writing the story rather than promoting it, and this sort of content isn’t really of the “if you build it they will come” variety. I want to take some time to promote the work and build a stronger readership before I push forward with the story. Promotional efforts will include putting together an e-book version of Part One, promoting the story on review sites, and otherwise getting word out.

How long will White Silk be on hiatus?

That’s something I’m leaving to you, the readers. I’m completely fine doing weekly posts in the story for those who are reading it, but I want to be sure that there really are readers invested in the story. The hiatus will last until the official White Silk page reaches 500 “likes.”

That means you can help! The simplest thing you can do is like the page yourself:

You can also use that “share” option to spread word to your friends. If you want to be even more specific, you can invite your friends to like the page directly by going to the page linked above, looking in the right-hand column for the “Invite Your Friends to Like This Page” option, and then inviting the friends you think may be interested in this story.

As more work is done to allow other methods for spreading word, the Facebook page will be updated with details. For example, when the free e-book version of Part One comes out, you can help that e-book release gain visibility by picking up a copy and leaving a review.

Are there other ways I can help?

There are! Thanks so much for asking.

If you want to see more frequent entries in White Silksupport my other creative ventures, and earn some nifty prizes, you can check out my Patreon page. Patreon is like an ongoing kick-starter that allows you, the reader, to become a patron for the work you enjoy. You pledge X dollars per month, and 92% of your contribution goes directly to me. You can find out more here:

Support White Silk through Patreon.

I’m still working out the details, but here’s how I want to use the Patreon system: If you contribute money, you will get “silver pieces”—an abstract currency that you’ll be able to redeem for real-world rewards. Those rewards will include items like posters, signed copies of the physical book, Google Hangouts, replicas of items from the story, or even having a character named after you.
