Winter’s still a while off, but I’m already planning for my escape to warmer places. Since I’m lucky enough to be in a low-residency MFA program just twenty minutes away from Hollywood, that’s where I’ll be spending much of my December. For those like me who need to go from the frigid climate of home to a kinder place, Hollywood is a phenomenal destination. Here are a few of the best places to stay during your Los Angeles getaway.
For the Budget Option: Motel 6
The Motel 6 Hollywood is by no means a classless hotel, but it has one of the lowest nightly rates of any hotel located in central Hollywood. These accommodations put you within easy walking distance of Hollywood Boulevard, which means you can stroll right over to the Walk of Fame, Madame Tussaud’s, The Hollywood Museum, and dozens of other attractions. The rooms at the Motel 6 come with basic amenities, including free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, and a mini-fridge.
Luxurious and Well-Located: The W
Some hotels are designed to be destinations in and of themselves. Take, for instance, the W Hollywood. Beyond comfortable rooms with plasma TVs, pillowtop mattresses, and stunning views, the hotel offers a fitness center, pool, and on-site restaurant. However, like the Motel 6, the greatest appeal is that the accommodations are within walking distance of Hollywood Boulevard, making it easy to explore the city’s most famous landmarks.
For the Spa Treatment: Loews
The Loews Hollywood Hotel offers well more than just a spa. You’ll find stylish rooms, an on-site bar and restaurant, free Wi-Fi, a rooftop pool, and expansive event space. However, the Exhale Spa is what makes this hotel truly special. Every possible method for unwinding is offered here, from massages to acupuncture and well beyond. As a feature that complements this nicely, the on-site gym is one of the top-rated fitness centers in the city.
For Included Entertainment: Magic Castle
The Magic Castle Hotel is an attachment to the entertainment hub of the same name. For aspiring magicians, magic enthusiasts, or just those looking for a novel experience, the Magic Castle is a great place to while away the hours. The hotel also offers core amenities like in-room kitchenettes, luxury bedding, complimentary breakfast, and free Wi-Fi. On-site features like a pool, fitness center, restaurant, and laundry facilities can also be found here.
For the Bohemian Experience: The Redbury
The Redbury @ Hollywood and Vine is an all-suite hotel with chic rooms and an artistic vibe. On the hotel premises you’ll find an award-winning restaurant, a lounge with stunning views of downtown, and a vibrant nightclub. That’s in addition to all the standard extras like Wi-Fi, a pool, a business center, and event space.
All of these hotels are located downtown, near historic theaters, fascinating museums, and the iconic Walk of Fame. However, that’s not all there is to the city. Within a short drive of each of these hotels you’ll find the Hollywood Sign, Universal Studios, live music venues, theatres, and far more.
