You’ve likely noticed that the sundering schedule has partially happened, but that some key elements—and especially the full launch of the new site and continue new content—have yet to fall into place. Here’s what’s up:
I’ve been doing some fairly heavy academic work, much of it being oriented around whether or not I would be able to launch a Creative Writing Club in the fall. Not knowing whether this would be possible, I decided I would set up a “local chapter” of the CWC if I couldn’t set up a club. With the club being in the “unknown” status, I didn’t know if the new site should have additional functionality to support local meetups.
Well, I got clearance on the club. After having thought out the “local chapter” possibility, however, I decided I liked it—and that I could use it cooperatively (and carefully) with the creative writing club I’m setting up. As such, expanding the functionality of the site by setting it up on Drupal seemed wise.
It means the process is far more complicated than simply “porting over,” however. Which is okay, but it means the theme and functionality customization are going to take a while and require some additional learning. My partial absence has been due to this expanded concept of the site sundering and the fact that I’ve had to—and will continue to have to—do a substantial amount of work to set up this creative writing club.
I’m at that point of work where something’s got to give. Since much of the current work for my academic pursuits and the creative writing club are time-sensitive, short-haul efforts, my focus will be going to those—with continued posts, feature updates, and theme work on the Creative Writing Collective site whenever I’m available. As the club is set up and my summer’s academic pursuits drop off, the Collective will be moved back into my cross-hairs.
Don’t worry, guys: I’m still with you, still care about you, and still want to help make your words better. You’ll be seeing much more of me in the not-all-that-distant future.
Write on,
Rob
