This is the hub page for the collection of stories tentatively known as “The Diary of an Addiction.” The essays, stories, and thoughts here are collectively meant to describe my experience with addiction to dextroamphetamine (the generic for Dexadrine, similar to the more commonly prescribed Adderall), my attempts to quit, and my long path to recovery.
Your thoughts on the topic are definitely welcome. I also really appreciate any feedback on this method of exploration and storytelling.
Entries
The entries were primarily not written with the thought of being in a larger collection. The quality varies, as does the tone. Further, many entries are added retrospectively but told as if they were present tense. I’m trying to add dates to describe when each is occurring for anyone trying to get a sense of the timeline. The order listed below is the order recommended for reading.
Chapter 1: Accidental Addict
The Diary of an Accidental Addict - June ’12
A Note to All Concerned - September ’11
Chapter 2: Morning Mists
Morning Mists: Part 1 – January ’13
Morning Mists: Part 2 – August ’12
Morning Mists: Part 3 – September ’12
Morning Mists: Part 4 – November ’12
The Symptoms – July ’14
This is not a complete listing of the stories. More are being written, pulled from previous heaps, or edited into condition. I know it’s not as cohesive as one might hope, but I am trying to flesh this out more as time goes on.
